French Toast Casserole (I think it's like bread pudding)

Make the night before!

6 c. torn, stale bread
6 eggs
2 1/4 c. milk (more for whole grain breads)
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/3 c. brown sugar

dot with 2 Tbsp butter

Generously grease a square casserole dish. Add bread. Separately, mix eggs, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate over night. Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes; uncover bake for 30-35 more minutes. Serve fresh with syrup or jam.

Homemade syrup:
Place equal parts molasses, honey and water. Heat till mixed, cool for use.
